Yesterday’s bike ride.
May 10, 2008
Today I woke up at 1PM, despite thinking that I was immune to jet lag. Here’s some pictures of my rides yesterday through town and out to the beach and up the coast.
I’ll start every day for the next three months off with this breakfast - Yoggi and granola.
I then rode around to the farmer’s market in Mårtenstorget (every single weekday!) and bought what I thought were peaches. They had an edible, soft, alien pit that looked more like a clump of pumpkin seeds, but were otherwise pretty much peaches. Here’s the market.
Davis, the “bike capital of the USA”, has nothing on Lund when it comes to bike traffic. Every major road has seperated bike paths on both sides, along with a huge amount of extra bike paths that go everywhere. I had forgotten about that.
Sweet emergency room!
The biomedicinskt centrum on campus.
Towers! The distinctive one to the right is an observatory.
The rad Astronomi department.
Some well-to-do neighborhood.
In another month, this gym will have a summer special - I’ll pay about 50 dollars for two months membership (less than I paid at home), with no startup fees.
There’s a long-standing falafel stand at the base of that pretty overpass.
Obligatory Domkyrkan tourist photo. From the 1100s, giant crypt, etc. etc.
Some streets.
Mexican food!
Part of the bike path along a creek with friendly sheep roaming around next to a golf course and a farm where children are playing and weepy elms grow. I don’t know where the rainbows and puppy dogs are, but they’re probably close.
Lomma Beach! It’s kinda messed up right now, it used to have more sand, less sandbars, and more wave action.
The Turning Torso in Malmö and the Oresunds bridge.
The following pictures were taken along the bike path up past Bjarred and back to Lund.
Also accomplished: I bought an AC cord for my dead laptop, and found out that my ATM card did work after all, at least in the ATMs. I’ll see if I can use it at shops today when I attempt to buy a new SIM card for my phone (apparently after 90 days of disuse, SIM cards expire).
Maybe I’ll ride into Södra Sandby and take some pictures!
